Oliver RCMP say that the fire that left over 25 people displaced on Monday April 30th is considered suspicious.

Oliver Fire Chief Dan Skaros says it was obvious to investigators that the fire was deliberately set.

"It actually started underneath a little sun room off the south end of the building. Where it started is a little bit suspicious considering that there was no ignition point in that little building. It's in police hands right now and they are doing a full fledged investigation on it"

Just after 11pm on Monday night fire crews were called to a rest home at 6061 Kootenay Ave. to find two suites in the building fully engulfed.

Fire fighters battled the blaze for several hours before they got it under control.

Thanks to quick work by firefighters and passing residents no one was seriously injured.
