Another evacuation alert has been issued to an Okanagan community, this time the Regal Ridge Subdivision on Anarchist Mountain just east of Osoyoos.

Officials have notified 11 homes that they may need to evacuate their residence at a moment’s notice.

Dale Kronebusch, Emergency Services Supervisor with the Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen says their dam inspectors found five unapproved dams built along a water reservoir, and two have breeches.

Kronebusch says they dams were built on private property but lack proper engineering to accommodate for overflow.

There are two evacuation alerts issued in the South Okanagan as the community of Tulameen is still in danger of more flooding.

Kronebusch adds that Okanagan Lake is draining at full capacity and that could cause potential flooding in the Oliver area and anywhere close to the Okanagan River.
