7/10/2012

If you've ever wanted to try fishing but don't have a rod, you now have the opportunity to borrow one.

The Rod Loan Program is coming to Summerland with 20 rods available for those young and old.

Jessica Borrows with Rod Loan Program says for a small refundable deposit people can borrow the rods for up to one week.

"We using spinning rods so those are great to use for kids and adults. It's just an introductory rod. It is specifically based for people that maybe they have family that they want to take out fishing or kids or beginners"

Tackle will also be available for loan and people can also purchase a fishing license from the centres before they head out on the lake.

In addition to lending rods, both Summerland Trout Hatchery Visitor Centre staff and Summerland Visitor Centre staff are available to share their knowledge about gear, where the best fishing spots are, stocking information and fishing tips and tricks.

To borrow a rod and tackle, visit the Summerland Trout Hatchery Visitor Centre at 13405 Lakeshore Drive South or call 250-494-0491; or visit the Summerland Visitor Centre at 15600 Highway 97 or call 250-494-2686.
