SOEC Reports Strong Second Quarter
8/3/2012
Despite cancellations of shows and sluggish ticket sales the South Okanagan Event Centre (SOEC) is reporting a profitable second quarter.
The SOEC, led by Global Spectrum, had a financial target of $70,000 and say they have exceeded it for the second quarter.
Year to date the complex is $236,000 ahead of it's budget, a number they thank mainly in part to the success of the Penticton Vees and their record setting year.
Mark Ziebarth, SOEC Advisory Committee Chair, say "The pedal is to the metal in terms of attracting entertainment acts and events to the South Okanagan Events Centre campus that not only fill seats, but build upon the vibrancy in the community."
The Penticton Trade and Convention Centre is also projecting a watershed year for 2013.
The Centre is scheduled to host hundreds of visitors at events such as the Fire Chiefs Association of BC meeting, the Western Turfgrass Association Conference and the Municipal Information Systems Associal of BC.
