Vancouver Resident Drowns in Osoyoos

8/8/2012

RCMP are investing the drowning of a Vancouver man over the weekend in Osoyoos.

On Sunday around 1:30 PM a 56 year old man was fishing with friends in Peanut Pond when he decided to go for a quick swim.

While his three friends packed up their gear they noticed the man failed to return and contacted RCMP.

The friends used a paddle boat to look for the man and were not sure if he had left the area on foot.

Police then conducted a foot search of the area over night but were unable to locate the man.

The next morning around 7 AM a local resident called police to say they had found the body in the Pond.

Foul play is not suspected and alcohol may be a contributing factor.

The BC Coroners service continues to investigate and no name has been released.
