Development Moving Forward in Summerland
8/24/2012
The District of Summerland announced this week that the long awaited Wharton Street project will finally begin construction.
Mayor Janice Perrino says the four new buildings will consist of commercial space and residential homes.
"This is what we hope will be the new future home of our library and then down the road our museum and cultural centre. We're very excited about where we are at and looking forward to working with this group, it's been a long journey."
Dan Nonis, owner of Danric Construction has purchased and is developing the project.
Nonis is well known in Kelowna and has been recently involved with the construction at UBC Okanagan and has also been involved with past construction in Summerland.
The project is expected to break ground in February 2013 and will be phased over the next few years as each building is completed.
