Local RCMP Members Join Cops For Kids Ride

9/7/2012

Three RCMP members from Penticton will be taking part in this years Cops for Kids Ride.

For Corporal Brian Burke participating in this years ride is more than just helping out.

"I was unfortunately involved in a family matter years ago with my daughter who was quite ill. I know how much charitable donations and organization do to help families through tough situations. I thought this would be an excellent opportunity"

Burke is an avid cyclist and is looking forward to participating in his first Cops for Kids.

"We're going to different communities throughout South Eastern British Columbia and meeting some really fantastic people and families that are in need of some assistance. From what I understand it can be quite an emotional time but it's for an excellent cause"

22 riders from the South East District will be riding in the ten day event.

Riders will leave Kelowna at 9 AM morning and arrive at the Walmart in Penticton at 3 PM where they hope to be greeted by supporters.
