The Ministry of Environment has announced 454 new vehicle charging stations will be installed through out the province.
19 new stations will appear in the Okanagan including three in Summerland, two in Osoyoos and ten to be shared at all four Okanagan College Campuses.
Communities who have been approved for charging stations will be given funding up to $4,000 per station to install and purchase.
The Ministry adds that in order to receive the funding all stations must be installed by March 31st of next year.
The stations would allow electric vehicle owners to plug in their car for two hours while spending time in town giving them a 75 per cent charge.
