Penticton Festival a Go Thanks to Community Support

10/18/2012

The Kiwanis Music and Dance Festival in Penticton was almost cancelled this year but thanks to community support it will continue for it's 87th year.

Lorna Bull, festival secretary, says more than 20 people came out for the annual general meeting last week.

"Our final count and I can give that with some certainty. I believe we now have about 19 board members which is unheard of for us."

Bull says they managed to fill every vacant position including a new president and vice president for the festival.

Bull adds that she is thrilled by the response from local residents after their annual general meeting last week.

"We have since that meeting received several calls and emails from people who were unable to attend the meeting but who would like to offer their assistance."

The festival draws more than 1,300 youth from across the valley for music, dance, and arts.
