Advanced polls will be open this Saturday for the Penticton Indian Band Chief election.

Polls will be available at the Penticton Band Community Hall from 9:00 AM until 6:00 PM.

Election Official Val Baptiste says there are two ways to get your vote in before next weeks election.

"There was some mail out ballots sent out, otherwise if they live close enough or if they're willing to drive however many hours it takes to get from point A to point B they can come to the advance polls on Saturday."

There are six candidates in the running including Incumbent Chief Jonathan Kruger, Band Councillors Joseph Pierre and Laurie Wilson, Joe Johnson, Lavern Jack, and teacher Arnold Baptiste.

On Wednesday the candidates had an open forum where Band members had the opportunity to present their questions.

The election date is set for October 24th from 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM at the Penticton Band Community Hall.
