Telethon in Penticton a Success

10/30/2012

This year's Okanagan Similkameen Neurological Society (OSNS) telethon was a huge success as the group managed to raise their goal of $50,000.

Executive Director Judy Sentes says $50,000 was raised by 9:00 PM Sunday night.

"The funding we receive from the ministry is actually a million four in budget, they give us a million one. We're short $300,000 every year and that is why we fund-raise and telethon is a big part of that campaign."

Sentes adds that even after the cameras turn off pledges still come in.

"Within minutes of that time we had another two or three hundred dollars in pledges so we know we are over $50,000. I'm thinking we'll probably hit 52 or 53 thousand dollars."

This year was will be Sente's last as she has announced her retirement after over three decades with the OSNS Child Care Development Centre.

Sentes hopes all those who pledged will follow through with their donations for the Share a Smile telethon.

If you would like to donate to the OSNS you can do so by visiting their website at http://osns.org/ or calling 250-492-0295 or 1-866-492-0295.
